Wouldn’t it be nice……

We’ve all played the game… sitting on the couch and dreaming about what we would do if won…and the inevitable question that goes around the room, every single time …what’s the first thing you would buy?

In the spirit of winning and welcoming in the new season, we have brought the dream a little closer with our “WIN a $5000 winter wardrobe competition”.

Now that is some serious shopping time on us and… if you are in fact the lucky winner… what’s the very first thing you will buy?

Knowing where to start can be a little overwhelming, so in anticipation of that question, we have pulled together our favourite pieces of the season, so read on for our best advice on where to begin when you win… and even if you don’t.

The winter coat – A well-chosen coat or jacket will take an outfit from drab to fab, and the classics will transform your look in a heartbeat.

To start with, for the coolest of days, a long line coat is a winter must have. The Annmaree Tailored coat from Decjuba featuring gold buttons and a double-breasted silhouette is the perfect place to begin. Classic, chic and timeless. Instantly elevating any outfit.

The Blazer. A timeless, every season, all year round essential. There is no limit to what a great a blazer will do for your wardrobe, especially when you step out in confidence and pick a pop of pink … run don’t walk to pick up Decjuba’s Magnolia Blazer.

The Teddy Jacket – A little more of a statement, giving your wardrobe a whole lot of life. The Teddy Jacket is making another appearance this season and we couldn’t be happier about it. This might just be the most versatile piece you buy this season; pair back with denim, layer over active wear and snuggle with your teddy and your trackies! The new Jade Check Teddy is our current favourite, want, need now, piece.

Once you’ve got the basics covered, creating a look that is all your own will often come down to your accessories; For an incredible selection of bags, we just can’t go passed the new drop that has arrived at Mimco. Hands down our favourite has to be the Wildwood’s tote in Beetroot. Luxe, soft slouchy leather & Suede, this is the perfect tote. It’s got all the internal pockets you need, it’s big enough for your laptop and all the other worldly possessions we love to fit in our bags.

We have teamed it back with a monochrome look from Florence and Marabel for the ultimate in weekend chic.

Boots. What’s winter without boots. Start with your neutrals if you are looking for something that will go with everything and if you win big, it’s on us, so we recommend going all out and choosing something that perhaps you would normally only admire from a distance. Wittner’s new drop for AW22 is nothing short of fabulous. Among our favourites, the holler tan block heel ankle boot, the Petrova Sicilian Green stretch over the knee boot, and for the girl who has it all, the Quander Flesh suede ankle boot, complete with diamantes!

Now boys, we know that you like to keep your shopping trips short and sweet and with a tendency to ‘buy one in every colour’ let’s us make it even easier for you with the Marino wool half zip knit from Trenery Men, because not only does it tick the timeless and classic box, it pretty much goes with everything; denim and a jacket or a sports coat? Tick. Chinos, dress pants and a blazer? Tick. Boots, sneakers and loafers… please…. easily done; and when it’s available in 12 colours? You’re welcome.

If your denim requires a winter update, head to Rodd and Gunn for a classic cut and for something a little more focused on ‘trend’ YD is your winter go to with a great range of denim to choose from and it won’t hit the wallet too hard.

Need a new winter jacket? Don’t be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to your shopping spree…Kathmandu have a great selection of jackets, which of course are super functional, weather proof… and stylish.

Out top pick, apart from their amazing range of puffer jackets has to be the Andulo Mens Rain Jacket in Olive – perfect for winter footy sidelines.

For your shoes, we recommend at the bare minimum, your investment includes leather boots and fresh kicks. You may be surprised to know that RM Williams carry a  leather sneaker available in both black and white. Head into store to try on the Surry sneaker -bound to become a lifetime favourite

For your winter boots, head to Country Road for a great selection; the Suede Jefferson definitely included in our list of top picks and while you are there grab a couple of leather belts to complete your look.
