Have a party coming up? Read on, because even though you’ve nailed loungewear this year, dressing up is going to be fun this Autumn/Winter.
This season is all about romance, including dramatic puffy sleeves, ruffles, satin, boho-inspired prints and pretty pastels.
For men, impeccable tailoring will always be a given, but it really took centre stage on the catwalks. We also saw a touch of the romantic in menswear, with ‘70s silhouettes and bohemian rock dominating runways – stay with us on this one!
Read on to find out how to incorporate these key trends into your next formal outfit.
Womenswear really played on mixing up masculine and feminine styles and silhouettes this season, with elegant matching suits. We’re seeing this trend on every celebrity imaginable, from Kylie Jenner to Gigi Hadid.
A matching suit in cream always looks effortless or play around with darker shades or even pastel shades like lilac or powder blue.
When it comes to menswear, don’t underestimate the power of tailoring. You’d be surprised how much difference you can make by taking an off-the-rack suit to a tailor to make small adjustments. A little narrowing in the leg or waist can take a standard suit to the next level.
The bohemian look is nothing new, but this season, it’s getting edgier. For women, try dresses with black fringing and a floaty, feminine structure. Add an edgy feel to your outfit with a pointed black ankle boot and silver jewellery or a rockstar studded clutch bag.
Men, try a suit in a paisley print. It doesn’t have to be loud; a subtle print can still work well. Or, play around with natural fabrics like linen and cotton. The bohemian look is all about accessorising, too, so add some finishing touches with jewellery or even a hat if you’re bold enough.

Silky-smooth satin is having an enormous resurgence. And little wonder - satin truly is the best; it’s relatively affordable, drapes beautifully and feels luxe.
For women, dresses can range from sleek and stylish to edgy and luxurious; there’s a huge variety of styles to choose from.
But satin isn’t just for womenswear. If men want to make a statement, a satin suit jacket can certainly do the trick. For a formal event or black-tie wedding, try a satin suit jacket in red or blue, pared back with plain black trousers.
