Bushwalking Fashion Essentials

Spontaneity in your travels is one thing; when it comes to your outfits - well that's an entirely different conversation. Find out what to pack for that upcoming bushwalk.

Does anything compare to a good old fashioned bushwalk?! We are lucky to have some great day trips available to us in the Toowoomba region, and one of our local favourites is Crows Nest National Park.

While it is most important to have the basics covered (think water, first aid and sunscreen), you can also have a little fun getting your wardrobe right. Here's our top tips to achieve a versatile Autumn wardrobe to keep you active in the outdoors.

Comfort

Comfort is the all important factor when spending time in the outdoors, but the default doesn’t need to be your trackies and a tee!

Fabric choice is important when it comes to comfort and your outfit selection. Breathable fabrics don’t come better than cotton blends, so a classic tee is a great (and easy) choice.

Activewear fabric has come a long way from the lycra days and are a staple in most modern wardrobes. With athletic cut and fit, 4-way stretch, fabrics that wicks moisture and dries quickly, it’s easy to see why these are top picks for Autumn activewear

Layers

Even if you are travelling in the summer months, the weather can turn as easily as the twists in the road. Whether it’s the air conditioning in the car or a road side restaurant, or a drop in temperature during the night, be prepared for unexpected changes in the weather.

And we all know Toowoomba weather can turn quickly, so being prepared for unexpected changes is key. A denim jacket or light cardi wrapped around the waist is the most versatile, as is a great button through shirt or compactable rain jacket that can easily be thrown over tanks and tees

Why not throw in a picnic blanket that can double as extra warmth if you get caught in a quick weather change - find a light-weight option that's perfect for bushwalking picnics.

Shoes

Hiking shoes are an obvious choice and a must-have for regular bushwalkers. However the ever-versatile sneaker are a perfect way to inject your style and provide great grip and fit needed for bushwalking.

Also keep your eyes peeled for the perfect blend of fashion-come-adventure walking boot.

Accessories

Bucket hats are making a huge comeback and are key to turning any outfit into a winner (also perfect for those bad hair days!).

A cool cap and designer sunnies are the go-to choices for any day outside and suit all shapes and sizes!

And don’t forget the staple back-pack for your essentials and snack-stash, or a cute cross-body bag for the phone and lip balm.

Be a local

Autumn 2021 provides the perfect weather and backdrop for you to explore the Toowoomba region - so get out there and explore your Autumn story with a hike to Table Top, find waterfalls at Crows Nest or follow the winding road to a new unknown trail.

Enjoy your trip!
