Damper Day with The Carbal Elders

The Carbal Elders group will be cooking up a storm and teaching young ones the traditions of cooking damper and sharing Johnny Cakes. 

Although we won’t be around a fire, the yarning will take place. Each participant will be able to show off their MasterChef talents creating a small damper and share in the spoils of the cooking. 

Sharing stories and teachings with the next generation is a special task undertaken by the Elders in our community and they are excited to yarn with you about community, traditions and respect for country.

When: Wednesday 9 July

Time: 11am and 1pm

Where: Ground Level, Near Kmart

Cost: FREE - bookings essential

Children must be accompanied by a guardian.  Only participating children require a ticket for this event; limited seating will be available for guardian supervision. 

All materials supplied in this free workshop however places are limited, and bookings are essential. Food will be consumed during this workshop; all ingredients will be made known on the day. Unfortunately, due to the nature of this workshop, food allergies are unable to be catered for.  

Grand Central will be raising funds for Carbal Medical Services Elders Programs. During each of our workshops there will be the opportunity to donate a gold coin for taking part.
